John Gamon

Dr. John Gamon, a prolific researcher overseeing numerous field research projects, pioneered the use of the relationship between leaf xanthophyll cycle pigment content and spectral reflectance to improve satellite monitoring of photosynthesis. Gamon's seminal work resulted in the development of the Photochemical Reflectance Index (PRI). He is known for his tram method of collecting large amounts of spatially uniform data over large areas. He founded SpecNet , a collaborative group working to link spectral data to flux data in order to augment satellite monitoring capabilities. Dr. Gamon is a researcher and dual-track professor in the fields of Biology and in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Alberta.

Susan Ustin

Dr. Susan Ustin studies remote sensing of environmental properties and landscape analysis utilizing optical, microwave, and thermal scanners; radiation interactions in plant canopies and application to hydrological and ecological problems. She is a professor of Environmental and Resource Sciences at the University of California, Davis.
